Renovating in Portugal

Hi everybody, I am sure you have been wondering where we have been (or maybe I believe my own hype and you never even noticed we were gone!)

Life in Portugal has been manic, it certainly hasn’t been the laid back life that we were planning, but that should be coming to an end soon.

The Old Manor House is not far off completion and our new website is going from strength to strength.

I never really managed to blog the same way I did when we were in France, so I am going to start again today, slightly differently.

I am going to take you from room to room and show you want can be done to an old, unloved and derelict house.

And the tour will start with the smallest room in the house, the bathroom (though this one has already lost the title as the en-suite is being finished!)

As you will remember (or if you were not there at the start) we bought an old manor house approx. 18 months ago, this property had not really been touched in many, many years. The ground floor was just 2 very large rooms with a side room with a dirt floor.

The main room had been used for storage (but was still part of the house). this empty cavernous room is now a stunning hallway, that mirrors upstairs and has 3 bedrooms and a bathroom and grand vestibule.

Here is the story of the creation of the bathroom, I am so shocked as I look at these photos as, living here, you quickly forget what we moved in to.

Hope you enjoy and if you ever want any advice please feel free to get in touch.

There are lots of properties in Portugal that require renovation and are still very competitively priced.
