ceiling
We have bought our new scaffold towers and these were a great bargain from Brico Marche. They cost 70 Euro for each tower. The wood tongue and grove cladding also come from Brico Marche and we had enough rock wool left over from when we insulated the attic.
The scaffold goes up and John once again treats every bit of wood. We are going over board on the wood treatment but its a case of better safe than sorry. There is no evidence of live wood worm, but by treating the wood above and below we know that it is as unlikely to get a problem as is possible.
John has measured in between the joists and I now have the awful job of cutting the fibre glass. A big tip is to always wear a mask when doing this as the fibres are so fine you are breathing them in.
John spends an age fixing his first pieces of cladding, as the area is so old, there are no straight lines, the beams are all different thickness’s and we need to make this ceiling look good.
The job takes a few days but the difference is unbelievable, now we just need to remove the stairs so it can be finished.
Top tips
- Always treat any exposed wood in an old property with wood treatment
